A little clarity. A little calm.

How do we honour family wishes and still feel at home in our day?

Understand the feeling behind a tradition before deciding its form.

← The Wedding Notebook

If family members value tradition and you would prefer something simple, invite each side to name the one or two arrangements that matter most. A custom may hold a wish for your future, respect for an elder or the hope of a photograph with everyone together. Once you understand that feeling, talk about what to keep or simplify in light of the time, venue and your own wishes.

Families may have different customs; allow a little space for the conversation. If you want help with Chinese wedding traditions, confirm the details and responsibilities with your dai kam je or relevant service provider. Tea ceremonies, forms of address, entrances and photograph lists are best checked privately before the wedding.

For sensitive family arrangements, ask how people would like to be introduced and what should remain private. Share the agreed plan with the emcee and coordinator, so the words and arrangements on the day can reflect that care.

One small place to begin

Start with “What matters most to you about this?”, then find a way to honour that feeling together.

These notes offer general planning guidance. Adapt them to your wedding, your family and the arrangements you agree with each team. Confirm what each service includes before booking.
