A little clarity. A little calm.

Plan together, and leave time for each other

Make room for clear decisions about money, responsibilities and family wishes.

← The Wedding Notebook

Begin with three priorities each

Before comparing packages, each write down three moments you hope to remember: tea with family, a meal with friends or quiet vows. Compare your lists and put time and money towards what matters. Different preferences are a reason to understand each other, not a contest to win.

Give tasks an owner and decisions a shared voice

Divide work by interest and availability, not gender. Give each task a lead for enquiries, follow-up and recording decisions. Agree major spending, the guest list and important family arrangements together. A shared list with the next step and deadline helps prevent duplicated work and overlooked tasks.

Agree how spending decisions are made

Agree the total budget, contingency allowance and spending threshold that needs both of you to approve it. Include known alterations, travel, delivery, overtime and other charges in comparisons. If family contributes, gently discuss any expectations about guests or traditions before commitments are made.

Keep planning time, and time away from planning

Have a short weekly check-in focused on decisions, then give yourselves permission to talk about other things. If you disagree, ask whether the concern is cost, family feelings or a rushed day. Understanding the concern makes a workable compromise easier to find.

Protect a little time on the day

Put food, water and breaks into the running order, perhaps with a few quiet minutes together. Give routine questions to your lead contact and explain when you really need to be consulted. You don’t have to spend the day answering messages or adding activities for every guest.

One small place to begin

Tonight, each finish the sentence: “When the wedding is over, I most want to remember…” Begin there.

These are practical planning suggestions. Adapt them to your circumstances and confirm each supplier’s scope and terms directly.

Every beginning leaves room for a conversation.

Tell me your story,
and your hopes for the day.

A date, a venue, a few ideas: bring whatever you have so far. We can begin with what matters most to you.
